Norwegian State Railways No. 37 to 39

In 1897 and 1898, Baldwin built three small 4-4-0 passenger locomotives for the Drammen Randsfjordbanen in the south of Norway which belonged to the manufacturer's type 8-18C. Works numbers were 15640, 16204 and 16205, while the NSB numbered them 37, 38 and 39. Their outside appearance clearly told who built them, but these Cape gauge locomotives weighed less than 24 tons. The cylinders had a stroke of 20 inches, but a diameter of only twelve inches. Driver diameter was 55 inches or 1.397 mm. The three-axle tender had a fixed axle at the front and a two-axle truck at the rear. Although the Randsfjordbanen was converted to standard gauge in 1909, records say that these locomotives were only retired in the late twenties. This indicates that they were used on another line for the rest of their career.
