The reference for locomotives and railcars

Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée C1 and C2

France 1887 2 produced
PD

These two locomotives were four-cylinder compound express locomotives with a 2-4-2 wheel arrangement. They were directly based on the two-cylinder series 111 to 400 for comparison and had their high-pressure cylinders on the inside. Their boilers had a Belpaire firebox and there were differences between both locomotives in the number and diameter of tubes. Also the chimneys of both locomotives were different.

They had been constructed at the PLM's shops at Paris in 1887 and made trial runs in 1889 and 1890. During these years, they underwent several small modifications. In 1891 they entered regular service alongside their two-cylinder sisters of the 111 to 400 series. After some time, they were relegated to other lines. Their withdrawals came in 1923 and 1924.
