The SDD7 is a broad-gauge passenger locomotive built by CSR in China for Trenes Argentinos. 24 were delivered from 2013 for use with commuter trains on the San Martín Line. Using the old Buenos Aires & Pacific trackage, this line starts in Buenos Aires and goes 70 km to the north-west. The locomotives have a weight of 114 tonnes spread over six axles and are being powered by a Caterpillar 3516B with 1,678 kW or 2,250 hp. Power is being transmitted via six DC traction motors, providing a starting tractive effort of 320 kN and a top speed of 120 km/h.
