Queensland Railways class B13

Between 1883 and 1895, Dübs, Kitson and Phoenix Foundry built 112 4-6-0 locomotives for Queensland Railways. They were designated class F and renamed to B13 in 1890. They had drivers with a diameter of only three feet and three inches and the axle load was seven tons. There were two variants, one with a narrow and deep firebox and the other with a wide firebox. Some were fired with wood.

In the early 1900s they were rebuilt with new boilers which had a higher pressure. Since the locomotives with a deep firebox performed better, the new boilers were only built with this type of firebox. Between 1913 and 1918, six were sold to the Commonwealth Railways and became class NG. The QR withdrew a large number in the late twenties. Many of these were sold to small operators. The last locomotive in QR service was withdrawn in 1954. The last two were operated by the Bingera Sugar Mill until 1969. Three have been preserved.
