The DF 100 is a class of six-axle diesel locomotives which is mostly identical to the SNCF CC 72000. So they also have bogies with only one traction motor that transmits its power to three axles at once through a two-speed gearbox. In this case, the top speed can be switched between 85 and 135 km/h. The engine is set at 2,430 kW or 3,260 hp instead of 2,650 kW for the CC 72000. They were originally only used for phoshate trains and do not have train heating. After the phosphate line was electrified, they were used on other lines for lighter freight trains or for passenger trains, using a generator car. In 2007, six BB 72000 were bought used from SNCF and also put into the same class. Four of these are set up to 140 km/h and two for 160 km/h.
