The type 69 was a two- or three-car electric multiple unit for commuter service and secondary lines. The power cars, trailers and control cars were designated BM69, B69 and BS69. Built from 1970, they had thyristor control and could be operated in multiple, also with the BM70. From new there were the variants A, B, C and D, with the further variants E, G and H which were created by rebuilding existing trains. Differences between the variants included the use of a dynamic brake, the equipment in the interior and if each set was created from two or three cars. They were withdrawn between 2014 and 2017.
