The ВЛ11 (VL11) is a two-section electric locomotive for the 3 kV DC network introduced in 1975. Designed as successor of the ВЛ10, 1,338 have been built at Tbilisi. Each section has one cab and even on three- and four-section locomotives, the central sections are the same. The ВЛ11 was often used with heavy freight trains in mountainous regions such as the Caucasus or the Carpathians, but they could also be seen with passenger trains. The last 32 ВЛ11М6 were built between 2008 and 2015 for the Ukrainian UZ. The UZ also modernized their older locomotives starting in 2012. In Azerbaijan, the ADDY rebuilt some locomotives to single-section E4s with two cabs each.
