In 1884, the kkStB procured twelve express locomotives for the Galician Transversal Railway in what is now Poland and the Ukraine. In the following year, the Vienna-Aspang Railway (EWA) had three identical locomotives built. The locomotives of the state railways were on Polish territory after the First World War and were directly retired by the PKP. The two remaining EWA locomotives continued to be operated by the BBÖ and were only retired in 1949 and 1955. During World War II they were given the Reichsbahn numbers 53 7801 and 53 7802.
