Kabelleger / David Gubler

Between the car-free town of Zermatt and the parking space at the neighboring Täsch, the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn is operating a shuttle service that is called “Zermatt-Shuttle”. It has to handle a high volume of passengers with lots of luggage. For this task, the MGB ordered a total of four meter-gauge electric multiple units from Stadler for mixed rack and adhesion operation.

In general layout, they are composed of a central panoramic car with four powered axles. On both ends there is a control car from the GTW which only have one bogie near the ends. All doors have a level entry and there is enough space for luggage carts. In times of high demand, the units are usually being used double-headed, while only two are running single in other times.
