In 1858, the French builder Schneider from Le Creusot built 20 0-6-0 freight locomotives for the Lombard-Venetian and Central-Italian Railway Company (LVCI). These had inside frames, cylinders and valve gear. When the LVCI merged with the Südbahn in 1859, they became class 20. After the 1866 war, half of the locomotives came to the Upper-Italian Railway (SFAI). When this one became part of the Rete Adriatica, all 20 locomotives were apparently re-united with the RA numbers 3016 to 3035. Withdrawals started in 1898 and in 1905, two remaining came to the FS and got the numbers 3953 and 3954. One was withdrawn in 1906 and the other one in 1911.
