Gerd Wolff „Deutsche Klein- und Privatbahnen Band 11 Niedersachsen Teil 3”

In 1934, the Osterwieck-Wasserlebener Eisenbahn in Northern Germany bought a used diesel railcar that had been built by Linke-Hofmann in 1929 and designated it T 04. With a power of 210 hp, it could haul some coaches, so that the OWE could dispense with all locomotive hauled passenger trains. The diesel engine was placed at the front outside of the car body and powered the two axles in the bogie below with two electric traction motors

After an accident a short time later, it was rebuilt into a more modern form. Now the car body spanned over the full length and the diesel engine was located below the floor. After World War II, it was taken over by the East German Reichsbahn and designated VT 137 551. There it was used until 1964 and officially retired in 1969.
