Z 200 designates a series of eight two-car DMUs designed for the Railways of Luxembourg in the fifties. Since this small country usually relied on rail vehicles developed for its larger neighbors, the Z 200 is one of the very few vehicles exclusively designed for Luxembourg.
Each set consists of two four-axle cars containing a 200 hp diesel engine each. Power was transmitted to both axles of the outer bogies via a hydraulic gearbox. At first they were used on main lines, but moved to secondary lines when the main lines had been electrified. After all had been retired by 1994, two were preserved with one being operational today.
