The G 2000 was the most powerful locomotive built by Vossloh at Kiel. It was designed in a modular way on a full-width frame with narrow hoods. The engine was either a 2,240 kW Caterpillar or a 2,700 kW MTU, both mated to a Voith hydraulic transmission. Depending on variant, top speed was either 120 or 140 km/h and weight was between 84 and 90 tonnes. Most locomotives had symmetrical cabs like the one shown in the photo, but there was also a variant where both cabs were narrower on the right side. A total of 101 locomotives were built between 2000 and 2010 and most were delivered to leasing companies.
