The first series of Finnish electric locomotives was the Sr1, the mechanical part of which was manufactured in the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Factory. Including the prototype, 111 locomotives were delivered from the Soviet Union and completed with their own electrics in Finland. In 1993 another locomotive was assembled from existing spare parts. They are used in front of passenger and freight trains and at times they were converted to a speed of 160 km/h. The first locomotives were retired in 2022.
