No. 82 in the Stephenson catalogue of 1910

The numbers 80 to 83 were the first eight-coupled locomotives ordered by the Ottoman Railway Company. They were built by Robert Stephenson & Co. in 1906 to climb the steep inclines between Smyrna (now Izmir) and Aydın. A major feature was the long wheelbase of 17 feet and 10 inches (5,436 mm), but the last axle had three quarters of an inch in side play, what led to a rigid wheelbase of only twelve feet (3,658 mm). Other features were the outside, inclined cylinders and the Belpaire firebox. When they came to the TCDD, they were numbered 44.111 to 44.114 and soon renumbered 44.091 to 44.094. The last one was withdrawn after 1955.
