The 2ЭС10 (2ES10) is a heavy freight locomotive consisting of two sections with four axles each. It was designed by a joint venture between Siemens and Sinara to haul 7,000-tonne trains over the Ural mountains, operating under 3,000 V DC. It is nicknamed “Granit” and was built at the Ural Locomotive Plant at Yekaterinburg.
When production ended in 2022, a total of 181 had been built. 60 of these have a cabless central section to allow haulage of 9,000-tonne trains. Theoretically these should be called 3ЭС10, but they are actually being called 2ЭС10+2ЭС10С since the central section is being called 2ЭС10С (2ES10S).
