The E 68000 is an electric multi-purpose locomotive developed by Hyundai Rotem for the Turkish State Railways. Škoda supplied the electrical equipment. Only the first eight locomotives were built in South Korea, all others were built at Tülomsaş in Turkey. Compared to the older, six-axle class E 43000 locomotives, they have lower tractive power, which initially proved to be a problem when starting heavy trains on inclines. Although there is a need for hundreds of more electric locomotives in Turkey, they apparently decided against producing more E 68000s.
