The next step in the development of the 4-4-0 express locomotives after the classes 6 and 106 was the 206. Gölsdorf raised the position of the boiler in order to obtain a larger firebox heating surface. The result was a continuous output of 940 hp at 90 km/h. For reasons of visual appearance, the second steam dome with connecting pipe was omitted and the cab was designed with curved lines. The kkStB procured 70 machines and the southern railway 19 more. After the First World War, double-digit numbers were also in use in Czechoslovakia, Poland and Italy.
