In 1975, the Montreal Locomotive Works built 14 broad-gauge diesel locomotives for the Sri Lanka Railways. Their internal manufacturer's type was MX-620, but their operator designated them M4. At a weight of 93 tons, they have six axles to keep the axle load low. Power comes from an ALCO 251C3 that delivers 1,750 hp. Their design speed of 104 km/h is limited to 65 km/h in service. So far there is only a short text for this vehicle. In the future it will be described in more detail.
