collection Mary Rae McPherson

The class 1139 of the Illinois Central consisted of 65 Pacifics which came after the 70 class 1069 locomotives from 1910. They had 75 inch drivers and 26 by 28 inch cylinders. 20 each were delivered in 1916 and 1918 by ALCO-Brooks and 25 more in 1920 by ALCO-Schenectady. The specs in the table are for the 25 last locomotives which had two fewer tubes and a heating area that was 20 square feet smaller compared to the first 40. In the forties, they received disc wheels for the main driving axle and the air compressors have been relocated. So far there is only a short text for this vehicle. In the future it will be described in more detail.
