The numbers 2101 to 2112 were eleven three-cylinder Pacifics built by Armstrong Whitworth in 1926 for the Buenos Aires Pacific. The boiler had a relatively small superheater of only 460 square feet, what was normal for British-built locomotives. But the grate was large, since they were intended for heavy express service over the Transandine railway to Chile. The 661 miles between Buenos Aires and Mendoza were completed in 21 hours.
